Young Dancers' Workshop

Emphasizes creative movement, expression, and a strong foundation in classical ballet. For the summer we include: ballet technique/movement, introduction to dance history, ballet crafts, rehearsal, and culminating performance.

Pre-Ballet (4 – 6 yrs.) | Four-week program | T/TH 4:00 – 6:00

Beginning Level Children's Division

Introduces students to the elements of classical ballet. For the summer we include: floor barre, ballet technique, dance history/video, ballet crafts, rehearsal, and culminating performance.

Level 1 FD & CD (7-9 yrs.) | Four-week program | T/TH 4:00 – 6:00
Level 2 (8-12 yrs.) | Four-week program | M/W/F 4:00-6:30

Intermediate Level Formal Division

Emphasizes a strong foundation in classical ballet technique. For the summer we include: floor barre, ballet technique, dance history/video, ballet crafts, rehearsal, and culminating performance.

Level 3 (9 – 15 yrs.) | Four-week program | M/W/F 4:00 -6:30 

Intermediate/Advanced

Designed for serious students with a strong commitment to ballet training who wish to improve their artistry and ballet technique. For the summer we include: floor barre, ballet technique, pointe, repertoire, choreography, dance history/video, rehearsal, and culminating performance. We offer a unique opportunity for higher division students to be given the tools to create and choreograph an original work of their own. With the cooperation of fellow dancers from the workshop, select participants will create, choreograph, and perform a piece in our workshop performance.

Level 4-7 (12 yrs. and up) | Four-week program | M-F 10:00-4:00

Workshop Perfomance

Workshop students will get the opportunity to participate in a culminating performance at the Oakley Ballet Center on Friday, July 24, 2009 (time TBA). Only students enrolled in the entire four-week program will be guaranteed to perform. Every effort will be made to ensure equity in casting the culmination performance; however, we cannot guarantee equal time on stage for every participant.
